Description: These data represent the municipal planning area (MPA) boundaries of the jurisdictions in the MAG transportation modeling area. MPAs are defined by each jurisdiction and generally represent the planning area defined in general plans. The exceptions to this are (a) in the case of overlapping planning areas, in which case MAG assigns the overlapping areas to the relevant county; and (b) in the case of counties and native nations, which in genreal do not change extent. In the latter case, the MPA is simply a convenient modeling area for unincorporated areas. MPAs are used by MAG for socioeconomic projections, transportation modeling, traffic forecasting, and other planning purposes. Boundaries are compiled from the MAG member agencies, as well as from Central Arzona Governments (CAG) for non-MAG member agencies in Pinal County.
