Description: Most reference markers built into the ATIS library are from the a00m feature class. Remaining markers are stored in the a00m_retired feature class. There are three types of markers: Milepost or kilometer post markers on the mainline, all of which are for integer demarcations Ramp or frontage road markers which include and alpha (or sometimes an alphanumeric) suffix. The demarcations are also integers of the nearest down-value reference marker on the mainline Virtual markers, which assign a decimal value to the integer at the beginning or end of a route segment. More on this as ADOT adjusts and conforms to contemporary methods. (Essentially, retired markers will no longer be stored to a separate feature class. Instead, all markers (ADOT roads or non-ADOT roads) will exist in a master feature class. An attribute will keep track of the retired status. Distribution rules for the derivatives of the master marker dataset will determine whether retired and future markers are included or not).
